Typically the dog days of summer refers to the hottest days during the summer season, but this year is has a different meaning for our family. Recently my wife told me about a dog that was going to the pound if a new owner couldn’t be found. For some reason she felt compelled to save this dog. The next day she took me to meet this canine that was pulling at her heart strings. I have always loved dogs, but I haven’t owned a dog since I was a child, and I wasn’t too sure if I wanted another one right now. My wife was sure that after I saw it I would want it. As usual she was right, and we have now added another member to our family. The dog is a yellow Labrador Retriever and her name is Lady. She is very well behaved and I’m looking forward to many happy years with her and family. Who knows, maybe I can teach her to be a geocaching dog and sniff out caches.
One thing I would like to do is attend a dog training class with her. However, I’m surprised how hard it has been finding dog training classes in this area. I’ve searched through the local yellow pages, searched the Internet, and checked the local pet stores and came up with a few options. I’ll put together a list of what I’ve found and post them below later in hopes that it will get picked up by a search engine and help someone else in the Florence/Muscle Shoals area of Northwest Alabama.
